What is Gut Health ?

Gut Health is a term increasingly used in the medical term and by the food industry. It covers multiple aspects of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, such as the digestion and absorption of food, normal and stable intestinal microbiota, effective immune system.
Any impairment of the GI can increase the risk of developing infectious, inflammatory, alergy and other GI diseases.

1. The Food
Like people said "You are what you eat"
Food obviously play a role in the bacterial makeup of our gut

2. Nature of Our Birth
Research shows the babies delivered vaginally grow up to have more diverse microbiomes than those delivered via C-Section.

3. Breastfeeding
Research shows breastfeeding foster beneficial gut bacteria

4. Environment
More exposure to germs and bacteria within reasons can strengthen our microbiomes than environment that too clean.
Kids are good to be exposed in dirt, play with animals to establish healthy gut.

What are the signs of Unhealthy Gut ?

1. Upset Stomach
Stomach disturbances like gas, bloating, constipation an heartburn can be the signs of unhealthy gut.

2. High Sugar Craving
A diet high in sugar contents, processed food may decrease the amount of good bacteria. This imbalance can cause increased in sugar cravings 

3. Unintentional Weight Changes
Gaining or losing weight without making changes to diets or exercise habits may be a sign of unhealthy gut.
Imbalance gut can impair our body's ability to absorb nutrients and store fats.

4. Insomnia or Poor Sleep
Unhealthy gut may contribute to insomnia or poor sleep and lead to chronic fatigue.
The majority of serotonin, a hormone that effects mood and sleeps is produced in the gut.

5. Food Intolerance 
They are the result of difficulty digesting certain food. It may be caused by poor quality of bacteria in the gut. This can lead to difficulty digesting the trigger foods and unpleasant symptoms.

How To Maintain Gut Heath ?


  • Eating well-balance diet, exercise regularly and have good night sleep.
  • Limiting sugar and processed food and eat more fiber.
  • If you are lacking of probiotics, you can take probiotics supplements after consulting health practitioner.
