How to choose the right Food Supplement ?

1. Find out What Your Body Really Need

Our nutritional needs depend on our age, activity, the eating habits, existing medical conditions.
For myself, I have done comprehensive body composition measurement and this is the result.

I'm an active person, love gyms, maintain my healthy eating habit and even goes all the way for clean eating diet.
My result is overall good, only few that are in border line.
However, I'm still lack of something which is calcium and fish oil.
I don't really like fish, that's why I take fish oil and calcium supplements to fill in the gaps.

2. Shop Smart

After we know what you need, it's time for us to choose which one is the good food supplements.
With lots of choices in the store and marketing gimmicks out there, we need to do our homework first.
These are 5 checklist that we can consider :

a. What's Behind the Label

If there's not so much information in the food label, you may just leave it.

b. Traceability

We need to know where is the source of this supplements. Are they picked in organic farms ? Or just any farm ? Which country is the farm ? Worse, if it's unknown.
We can search this information from the internet or asking the manufacturer directly.
Those who are honest and pure should have these information available transparency.

c. Research Documentation

Again, some manufacturer 's goals are to please the shareholders without really care about the customers' benefit. They only run few tests, package them and sell it to the store to get faster return of investments.
Those who are true and sincere, they should have proper research documentations and endorsement or certificate from third party organization and these information should be available to customers.

d. Having doubt, talking to the sales representative

When we buy online, we are missing out from seasoned professionals, it's best to talk with the sales representative with those check list questions.

e. Consult with your doctor

Last but not least, especially if you have pre-existing medical condition, talking to your doctor or health practitioner. They may be able to advise you better.
